Israel’s military is investigating whether Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was killed in a strike during operations in the Gaza strip. “During IDF operations in the Gaza Strip, three terrorists were eliminated. The IDF and ISA are checking the possibility that one of the terrorists was Yahya Sinwar. At this stage, the identity of the terrorists cannot be confirmed,” the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement. Sinwar is the most significant Hamas figure still at large, and Israel considers him the “mastermind” of the deadly October 7 attacks that triggered Israel’s ground invasion of Gaza. He has not been seen in public since the Hamas attacks and is thought to have been hiding in the vast network of tunnels worming their way under Gaza. This is a developing story. We will bring you more details as we get them.
